Apoorva Patel, Vice President at Burford, will be speaking at the event “Arbitrating disputes with insolvent parties: Avenues and pitfalls” hosted by DLA Piper and New York International Arbitration Center (NYIAC). The discussion will take place on September 27 at 6pm EDT.
The intersection of arbitration and insolvency remains turbulent, with ongoing debates around the enforcement of arbitration agreements involving insolvent parties, the role of funders, the capacity to bring claims and the fate of foreign arbitral awards in the face of insolvency. The event will introduce the book Crossroads of Insolvency and Arbitration and the discussion will address issues on how these "crossroads" are being addressed by arbitrators, counsel and funders. Apoorva will be joined by Katherine González Arrocha (Dispute Resolution Consultant), James Berger (DLA Piper) and Joshua Kane (DLA Piper).
