Aviva Will for Lawyer Monthly: Fixing the gender gap in law will take culture and economics

In an article for Lawyer Monthly, Aviva Will argues that “Historic progress (or lack thereof) suggests that challenging the law firm status quo and building a more inclusive culture… will take… economic incentives”—like The Equity Project. She notes that women lawyers often face biases that men do not—“Men are typically assessed on their potential, whereas women tend to be assessed on their record”—and that women lawyers continue to earn significantly less than men. She concludes that “a combination of [Burford’s] capital and… commitment to gender parity, can lead to real and immediate change” in the legal industry.
