Writing for Bizwomen, Caitlin Mullen writes that Burford’s “timely initiative” will earmark a “$50 million pool of capital for funding women-led litigation and arbitration with the goal of greater gender equity [in law].” She reports that the initiative comes at a time when “female lawyers remain underrepresented among equity partners at the country’s top law firms.” Burford’s Aviva Will is quoted in the article: “Burford has received thousands of requests for financing, but over the nearly 10 years we’ve been in business, under 10 percent were for matters run by women. We can and must change this — and we believe this capital commitment can have an immediate impact on women lawyers’ ability to generate business.”
