Burford Capital (“Burford”), a leading global finance firm focused on law, announces today that it has expanded its team to continue to meet client demand. Among the client-facing new hires joining Burford in its New York office are:
- Justin Brass, Managing Director. Most recently a Managing Director at Stone Lion Capital, a credit-focused hedge fund, and with a professional background spanning law and finance at firms including Paul, Weiss and Jefferies, Mr. Brass brings to Burford a portfolio of experience that complements the evolution of its core litigation finance business and the ongoing growth of its complex investments.
- Christopher Catalano, Director. Most recently Assistant General Counsel at JPMorgan Chase following a litigation career at Kirkland & Ellis, Wilson Sonsini and O’Melveny & Myers, Mr. Catalano joins Burford’s global investment team as it reviews billions of dollars of complex commercial litigation from around the world every year, and adds his significant experience with complex litigation as both an in-house lawyer and a litigator.
- Sarah Lieber, Vice President. Most recently Deputy General Counsel for CIFG Services following a career as a litigator at Jones Day, Ms. Lieber is responsible for building relationships with leading law firms and corporate clients as they consider the myriad of ways Burford’s capital can assist them in meeting their financial goals, and brings a depth of experience in complex commercial litigation and litigation portfolios.
