Burford is delighted to announce that it won the award for Innovative Fundraising of the Year at last night’s 2017 AIM Awards Dinner. Currently in its 22nd year, the event recognizes companies and individuals harnessing The London Stock Exchange’s AIM to “power their growth and fulfill their strategy”.

The Innovative Fundraising of The Year Award is given “to recognize innovation and success in how funds have been raised.” It was received on Burford’s behalf by Craig Arnott, Burford’s Managing Director responsible for UK, EMEA and APAC, at the ceremony’s annual dinner at Old Billingsgate in London.

Burford won the award for its US$225 million oversubscribed issuance of 5% bonds on the London Stock Exchange in May 2017. The proceeds were partly used to refinance loan notes relating to the acquisition of Gerchen Keller Capital in December 2016. This transaction has been widely recognized as cementing Burford’s position as the leading global finance firm focused on law, with over $3.1 billion invested in and available for legal finance.
