Jeffery Commission to speak at International Arbitration Club of NY

Jeffery Commission, Director at Burford, will be speaking at a panel hosted by the International Arbitration Club of New York to discuss Kathleen Claussen’s prize-winning article “The International Claims Trade”. The session will take place virtually on January 13 at 11am EST.

Kathleen Claussen, Associate Professor at the University of Miami School of Law and Senior Fellow at the Georgetown University Law Center Institute of International Economic Law, was the recipient of this year’s Smit-Lowenfeld Prize for best article in the field of international arbitration. The article examines the law of international claims trading and defends the marketability of such claims, including those against sovereigns. Jeffery will be joined by Wieger Wielinga (Omni Bridgeway) and will comment on the article based on his experience as a legal finance provider.

The International Arbitration Club of New York was founded by 70 not-for-profit association members in 2010. The Club now comprises around 140 invited leading practitioners and scholars in the field of international arbitration.
