Matthew Toma is a Senior Vice President at Burford Capital with responsibility for assessing and underwriting legal risk with a focus on asset recovery. Based in Stockholm, he brings more than 15 years of experience in complex multi-jurisdictional asset tracing and recovery matters.

Prior to joining Burford, Matthew held positions with several leading investigative firms, including The Mintz Group, FTI Consulting and Diligence. Across these roles, he managed investigations spanning more than 40 countries and advised clients on complex asset recovery and investigative matters.

Matthew earned his MA with distinction from King’s College London and his BA from Pomona College. He also has a working knowledge of Swedish.
