Dr. Luca Weskott is a Vice President at Burford Capital with responsibility for assessing and underwriting legal risk across Burford’s international legal finance business. Based in Frankfurt, he originates new business across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, working with companies and law firms to identify legal finance opportunities.

Prior to joining Burford, Luca was a senior associate in the dispute resolution practice at Hengeler Mueller in Frankfurt, where he specialized in international contract arbitrations, as well as corporate and securities litigation matters. Earlier in his career, he practiced at Corvel LLP, worked in the Paris office of Bredin Prat and served as a research associate at Allen & Overy.

Luca earned his LLB from Bucerius Law School and his PhD in international investment law from the University of Halle. Following completion of the German Staatsexamen, he was admitted to the German bar in 2013.
