Philipp Leibfried to speak at The Economist GC Summit
Philipp Leibfried, Managing Director at Burford Capital will host the roundtable, “Can you predict a case? AI, data and judgment in the decision to litigate", during The Economist's 23rd annual General Counsel Summit. The session will take place on November 12 at 1:10pm GMT in London.
Every dispute begins with a forecast: will it succeed, what is it worth, and what will it cost to find out? In-house teams are now being offered AI tools that promise to answer those questions before a complaint is filed. This session examines where data and AI genuinely sharpen the decision to pursue, settle or finance a case—and where they create false confidence.
What can quantitative case assessment reliably tell you? What does it miss? And how should GCs weigh a model's view against the judgment of experienced counsel?
Mr. Leibfried will speak alongside Tina Wilson (BAE Systems).
