December 3, 20262:30pm GMT

Summary

Jeffery Commission will speak on the panel, “What is an Award Worth? Courts, Enforcement and Damages,” during London Arbitration Week.

Jeffery Commission, Director and Head of Arbitration at Burford Capital, will speak on the panel, “What is an Award Worth? Courts, Enforcement and Damages,” during London Arbitration Week on December 3 at 2:30pm GMT in London.

National court decisions can have significant implications for both the enforceability and economic value of arbitral awards. The panel will explore recent developments in two key areas: the assignment and enforcement of ICSID and Energy Charter Treaty awards, and the assessment of damages in English-law commercial arbitration. Speakers will consider how differing approaches across jurisdictions can affect award creditors, assignees and legal finance providers, as well as how recent English court decisions concerning loss of chance, loss of bargain, causation and valuation may inform damages arguments before international tribunals.

Jeffery will be joined by Peter Edworthy (Seladore Legal), Laurence Shore (Seladore Legal) and Luke Steadman (Alvarez & Marsal).

London Arbitration Week brings together members of the international arbitration community for a programme of discussions and events addressing developments and issues across the field.
