David Perla offers glimpse into work culture of legal finance for Above the Law

In a column for Above the Law, David Perla and Sanjay Kamlani examine the cultural differences between various types of companies in the legal sector, including law firms, in-house legal departments, alternative legal services providers and legal financiers. Perla notes: “Of all the industries in which we’ve worked, legal finance is arguably the most dynamic: A legal capital provider is structured like a company, but it straddles the worlds of finance and law, so its cultural frames of reference necessarily include elements of both industries.” They conclude by pointing out that “what is means to be a lawyer is becoming broader by the day—and we think that’s a great thing.”
