Mick Smith, Principal at Burford, will be speaking at the panel “50 Shades of Funding—How to Establish the Right Relationship?” hosted by the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC). The webinar will take place on 19 April at 10:00am CET.
The session will focus on the key elements required to establish a sustainable relationship between a claimholder, their counsel and a litigation funder. The speakers will cover all aspects of litigation finance, including what types of cases are suitable, what parties and counsel should look for in a funder, the disclosure obligation in arbitration proceedings and the current VIAC regulations around third-party funding. Mick will be joined by Alice Fremuth-Wolf (NIVALION), Sabine Konrad (Morgan, Lewis and Bockius) and David Probst (UNCITRAL Secretariat).
VIAC was founded in 1975 as a department of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (“AFEC”), VIAC has in recent years enjoyed a steadily increasing caseload from a diverse range of parties spanning Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
