Charlie Rooke

Charlie Rooke is a Vice President with responsibility for assessing and underwriting legal risk as part of Burford’s investment team in London, with a particular focus on complex commercial and competition litigation matters in the UK.

Prior to joining Burford, Mr. Rooke was a Senior Counsel at the Royal Bank of Canada, where he managed multi-million pound disputes and competition claims in the UK, Europe and APAC, and handled significant regulatory enforcement matters involving a wide range of global regulators. He also worked as a litigator at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London, representing high-profile clients including major banks and large corporates in the UK and internationally in a large portfolio of litigation matters, particularly relating to complex financial products or markets.

Mr. Rooke earned his law degree from Oxford University and completed his Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in London.
