Compensation and Benefits Manager

Burford has created its inaugural Compensation and Benefits Manager position to assist in managing the increasing complexity of our growing global workforce and the related complexity of our compensation and benefits offerings, including with respect to executive compensation.  The Manager will assist in the design of recruiting, compensation and retention programs and will administer and communicate with employees about Burford’s compensation and benefits plans, including equity, carried interest, deferred compensation and other plans across multiple jurisdictions.  The Manager should have good knowledge of human resource strategies, relevant tax and labor laws and regulations, and compensation and benefits programs and vendors.  This is a broad role ranging from having substantive input into program design to the management and hands-on administration of all compensation and benefit programs; there is no administrative support in the HR function.

The role will report to Managing Director, Tax & HR and be based in Burford’s New York or Chicago offices.

Marketing Manager

Burford Capital seeks to hire a Marketing Manager to join its growing global marketing team and contribute to the growth of its businesses and the increased visibility of its brand. The Marketing Manager will play a critical role in building Burford’s visibility and credibility with leading companies and law firms by managing and contributing to substantive content- and thought leadership-led marketing programs. This role is ideally suited to an individual with experience marketing financial services to corporate clients and with a background in marketing communications for an investment banking, private equity or financial services firm. It requires confidence and ambition, superlative writing skills and a strategic mindset.

Financial Accountant

Burford Capital has a vacancy for a Financial Accountant in its New York, who will play an integral role in the financial reporting process. This includes, among other things, the monthly, interim and year-end close and consolidation process, overseeing the payment function in the U.S. and budget to actual reporting.  The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years experience; at least 2 of which are in public accounting and another 1+ years experience in the financial services industry and will have specific experience with the monthly financial statement close process and consolidation in a multiple-entity corporate environment.  Experience with Sage Intacct would be a plus.

Vice President - Business Development (US)

Burford Capital is adding a Vice President – Business Development who will be responsible for interacting with CFOs, finance professionals, lawyers and other influencers in our target markets to build relationships and identify cases, portfolios of cases and other opportunities in which Burford may be willing to provide financing solutions.  We are seeking a creative business development professional or former finance professional with an agile mind and previous experience and demonstrated success in developing business within the CFO and executive suite community.  We expect candidates to have deep networks within the CFO community of private and public companies.

Legal and Compliance Analyst

Burford Capital has created a position for a Legal and Compliance Analyst who will be tasked with executing functions critical to the registered investment adviser compliance program; its US securities law compliance obligations as a result of its recent listing on the NYSE; and the maintenance and support of Burford’s dynamic group structure and transactions. This includes, but is not limited to, Code of Ethics administration; new hire compliance onboarding; Business Continuity Plan (BCP) development and testing; assistance with regulatory filings; employee training and other compliance monitoring activities; legal entity management; preparing responses to due diligence/KYC queries from third parties; and other responsibilities supporting the Firm’s growing Legal & Compliance team.
