Emily Hostage to speak at LES Annual Meeting

September 29, 2021

Emily Hostage, Senior Vice President and Head of Special Projects, will be speaking at the panel “Lowering the Barriers to High-Tech Licensing” as part of the Licensing Executives Society Annual Meeting. The session will take place on 29 September at 12pm EDT.

The discussion will focus on why UTLP’s non-standard essential patent pool was founded, the goals of the program and the challenges that had to be met to bring together 15 universities to form an LLC. This pool consists of approximately 600 patents and is a creative approach to lowering the barrier to licensing in a space where it has historically been difficult for universities to license. Emily will be joined by Jennifer Dyer (USC Stevens Center for Innovation), Orin Herskowitz (Columbia Technology Ventures) and Marc De Leeuw (Sullivan & Cromwell).

The Licensing Executives Society (LES) has been the leading association for intellectual property, technology and business development professionals. It is a member society of the Licensing Executives Society International, Inc (LESI), which has 32 sister societies representing 9000 members in 90 countries.
