Mick Smith to speak at ILS conference

Mick Smith, Principal at Burford, will be speaking on the panel “The Future of Investment Arbitration: Challenges to the Legitimacy of Secret Courts—Does Investment Arbitration Enhance the Rule of Law?” as part of the 5^th Annual Conference on Energy Arbitration & Dispute Resolution in Middle East & Africa, hosted by International Law Summits. The session will take place on February 11 at 3:30pm GMT.

The conference is organized in associated with Herbert Smith Freehills and will take place at their London office. In the context of strengthening efforts to decarbonize the global economy, coupled with the impact of Covid-19 recovery measures and continuing security challenges, the event will examine the economic, geopolitical, technical and legal considerations driving energy disputes across the region. Mick will be joined by Dr. Rukia Baruti (Session Chair), Dr. Chrispas Nyombi (Derby University), Ike Ehiribe (7 Stones Commercial & IP Chambers) and Hannah Ambrose (Herbert Smith Freehills).
