Eric Carlson
Managing Director
Eric Carlson is a Managing Director with responsibility for assessing and underwriting legal risk, particularly in the intellectual property space. Mr. Carlson is focused on working with law firms, corporations and IP holders to assess legal claims and leverage litigation finance.
Prior to joining Burford, Mr. Carlson was a senior associate at Katten Muchin, where his practice focused on intellectual property, particularly patent litigation. His work included matters relating to a wide range of technologies, such as computer software, computer hardware, semiconductors, smartphones and GPS systems. He also represented clients in copyright, trademark, contract dispute and other complex litigation matters. Mr. Carlson began his career as an intellectual property attorney at Jones Day.
Mr. Carlson graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law and has an undergraduate degree in computer science from the University of Illinois College of Engineering.
