Aviva Will

Aviva Will is Vice Chair at Burford Capital. Most recently, she served as Burford’s President, before which she was Co-Chief Operating Officer. She has over 16 years of experience investing in and managing the world’s largest portfolio of commercial litigation and arbitration risk and has played a central role in the development of Burford’s legal finance business. In her leadership roles, she has overseen the continued innovation of Burford’s offerings to law firms and companies and has been instrumental in building the industry’s most respected legal finance team and investment process.

Prior to joining Burford in 2010, Aviva was a senior litigation manager and assistant general counsel at Time Warner Inc., where she managed a portfolio of significant antitrust, intellectual property and complex commercial litigation matters. She also served as the company’s chief antitrust and regulatory counsel, advising senior management on antitrust risk and overseeing government antitrust investigations and merger clearances worldwide.

In addition, Aviva served as an assistant secretary for Time Warner, managing corporate compliance and governance for the company and its board. Earlier in her career, she was a senior litigator at Cravath, Swaine & Moore. She also served as a law clerk to Justice Stewart G. Pollock on the New Jersey Supreme Court.

Aviva earned her JD, cum laude from Fordham University School of Law, where she was the writing and research editor of the Fordham Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. She earned a BA from Columbia University.
