Matthew Toma to speak at DER Disputes book launch

Matthew Toma, Senior Vice President at Burford Capital will speak on the panel, “State immunity in the context of enforcing and executing arbitral awards against States,” during a book launch hosted by DER Disputes and the Durham University International Dispute Resolution Institute. The session will take place on November 13 at 4:00pm CET in Stockholm. 

The event marks the launch of Dr. Ylli Dautaj’s Sovereign Immunity from Execution and International Arbitration: Theory and Practice and Prof. Lei Chen’s Contract Law in China. It features a keynote address by Prof. Kaj Hobér, followed by a discussion between Dr. Ylli Dautaj and Mr. Toma on state immunity in enforcing arbitral awards, focusing on “non-legal solutions” — how market mechanisms like third-party funding and selling awards can assist.

The program will then be followed by a lecture by Prof. Lei Chen on “Chinese Contract Law and Dispute Resolution,” a Q&A session, a book raffle, and networking with peers.
