Eric Carlson

Eric Carlson is an IP Principal at Burford, where he focuses on underwriting, structuring, and managing intellectual property-related investments.

Mr. Carlson is a former senior associate at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, where his practice focused on intellectual property, particularly patent litigation. His work included matters concerning a wide range of technologies, such as computer software, computer hardware, semiconductors, smartphones, and GPS systems. He also represented clients in copyright, trademark, contract dispute, and other complex litigation matters. Mr. Carlson began his career as an intellectual property attorney at Jones Day.

Mr. Carlson earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science with honors from the University of Illinois College of Engineering and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law.
