Aviva Will in New York Law Journal: With pay gap widening, new solutions are needed

Writing for New York Law Journal, Aviva Will addresses the recent Major, Lindsey & Africa 2018 Partner Compensation Survey, which points out that law’s gender pay gap is widening. Will argues that economic incentives are needed to close the gap, noting “The issue is definitively not that women are not as good at origination as men. It’s that women receive less origination credit than men.” Equity Project Champion Judge Katharine Forrest concurs, adding: “[Burford’s] Equity Project creates economic incentive for law firms and clients to position women lawyers as lead counsel in complex commercial litigation matters, a critical step in opening the door for more women to rise in the ranks of their respective firms”.
