Hugh Steven Wilson
Hugh Steven Wilson is Chairman of Burford. In his role as Chairman, he focuses on strategy, decision-making and corporate governance.
Mr. Wilson spent more than thirty years at Latham & Watkins, one of the world’s largest law firms, where he was Global Co-Chair of the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group and chairman of both the National Litigation Department and the National Mergers and Acquisitions Litigation Practice Group. He then joined Tennenbaum Capital Partners, a US-based private investment business, as Managing Partner and also served as the Chief Executive Officer of multiple registered investment companies within the Tennenbaum Capital Group. After his retirement, Mr. Wilson continued to serve as a Senior Adviser to Tennenbaum through its acquisition by BlackRock. Mr. Wilson has served as Chairman and a director of numerous public and private companies.
Mr. Wilson also serves as Chairman of Burford Capital Holdings (UK) Limited, a principal subsidiary of the Company, to ensure non-executive oversight.
Mr. Wilson earned his Master of Laws degree from Harvard Law School and his JD from the University of Chicago Law School.
